APFIT is a congressionally directed transition fund managed by the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering to carry mature, prototype-complete technology from small and non-traditional vendors across the 'valley of death' into initial production. Projects are nominated by a DoD Service or agency rather than applied for, so a company must already hold a US program and US-based operations to be put forward.
Eligibility
Not an open application: a DoD Service or agency nominates prototype-complete projects (TRL 7+). Requires an existing US program and US performer - an awareness item for later-stage, US-based operations.
