SPRIND, the German Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation, is a federally owned body in Leipzig set up to back breakthrough hard-tech that is too high-risk for ordinary public or private funders, chiefly through structured SPRIND Challenges and direct company funding. It works across fields and is increasingly turning to defence-relevant technology; a German or wider EU footprint helps a Ukrainian company qualify for its validation funding.
